WE ANSWER ALL YOUR BURNING QUESTIONS

What the faq?

Where do you shoot?

Anywhere and everywhere! After booking we can chat about location preferences and ideas. Some places work better at certain times of day.

What if my kids don't sit still well?

This is the norm, not the exception! It's important for a kid to explore the area for a bit to relax before the session. If you can get there a little early and walk around - that will help! If not we will let him or her explore a bit while I take candids. Only once in 8+ years have I not gotten a full gallery for a family because of an uncooperative little one.

What is the best time of day for photos?

Sunset, hands down!! Unfortunately for sunset photos, lots of kids go to bed well before the time we would start. So you have two choices, adjust naptime/bedtime leading up to session OR we do a session earlier in a shady spot. Either option works great, however.. the look is totally different. If you are worried about timing but really want sunset photos, I'd consider waiting until after the time change in November. Absolute worst case scenario is a child falling asleep on the way to an evening session.

What do I wear?

Oh I got you! My advice is to avoid matchy-matchy and neon. Also to make sure the clothes FIT.. as moms I know we like to buy big enough to allow for some growth but I cannot photoshop a shirt that is too big or dress that is hanging off a shoulder. Likewise, I can't make pants 4 inches longer if they are super high when sitting or being held. And don't forget about the shoes!! I'd rather see bare feet than neon-glitter-nikes! (unless that is the look you are going for ha!) Consignment shops are a GREAT resource to check out, especially if you are on a budget!

Any other recommendations?

Stay calm and have fun. I know the time and money involved in having family photos taken can be a lot of pressure. I know a few dads out there are SO NOT INTO IT. But kids will pick up on your stress levels and uncooperative attitude and once you get to the point of trying to keep the kids behaving or even yelling at them, they really check out.
